Sweat Gland Awakening on Physical Training: A Skin Capacitance Mapping Observation

چکیده

In normal conditions, the epidermis over a large part of the body produces a tidy Stratum Corneum (SC) composed of 15-20 layers or so of corneocytes with a total thickness of about 6-20 μm. This part of the epidermis is continuously renewed from the granular layer, and the outermost corneocytes gradually desquamate from the surface [1]. Corneocytes are embedded in a hydrophobic domain formed by lipid bilayers. Such combined SC structure guarantees its water holding capacity, and it impedes the trans-SC water flux, thus preventing dessication of the body. Both the SC structure and the Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) result from dynamic processes that are possibly altered in physiological conditions and diseases. Based on the likely relationship between the SC moisturization and the macroscopic aspect of the skin, a series of methods assessing the SC hydration and the sweat gland production were developed over time [2,3].

Skin capacitance imaging, a new technique for investigating the skin surface.

Thanks to the recently introduced silicone image sensor technology, skin capacitance imaging has now been made possible. The dedicated device is called SkinChip. This method is easy to handle and provides information about the skin microrelief, the level of stratum corneum hydration and the sweat gland activity. The apparatus sees and measures these parameters with a 50 microm resolution. A ser...

Sweat gland adenocarcinoma of the scalp: A case report

Sweat gland adenocarcinoma is a relatively uncommon malignancy. Clinical features are painless red or violet papules and nodules that can occasionally become ulcerated. The biological behavior is aggressive and metastatic sweat gland carcinoma spreads through the lymphatic. The treatment of choice is wide surgical excision with regional lymph node dissection. The portrayed ase was a 60-year-old...

F-18 FDG PET/CT Imaging of Eccrine Sweat Gland Carcinoma of the Scrotum with Extensive Regional and Distant Metastases

Eccrine carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin cancer arising from eccrine sweat glands with a high metastatic potential. It mainly occurs in the elderly, with equal incidence in both sexes. It usually spreads to regional lymph nodes, with liver, lungs, and bones being the most common sites of distant metastasis. Because of tumor rarity, little is known about the value of F18- FDG PET/CT...

Vestibular activation does not influence skin sympathetic nerve responses during whole body heating.

The cutaneous vasculature and eccrine sweat glands are modified by both thermal and nonthermal factors. To determine the effect of thermal stress on the vestibulosympathetic reflex, skin sympathetic nerve activity (SSNA) and cutaneous end-organ responses were measured in 10 subjects during static head-down rotation (HDR) and dynamic yaw and pitch (30 cycles/min) to activate the otolith organs a...
